Yappy Hour at MUTTS Canine Cantina

I first wrote about yappy hour at MUTTS Canine Cantina when the first location opened in Dallas. Now there are locations in multiple Texas cities.

What is MUTTS Canine Cantina

When Restaurant News wrote about MUTTS Canine Cantina, it described it as “a unique urban oasis for dogs and their owners.” Basically, it’s a combination bar, eatery and dog park.

Here’s what makes it different from other bars that offer yappy hours on occasion. At MUTTS it’s like yappy hour every day and every hour.

Also, as a business, MUTTS offers franchises. Back in 2018, when I learned of MUTTS, this canine cantina had just opened in Dallas and was expanding to Fort Worth.

MUTTS locations

Today, there are MUTTS locations in five Texas cities. They are:

  • Allen
  • Austin
  • Dallas
  • El Paso
  • Fort Worth

Soon, there will be a sixth Texas city — New Braunfels.

I wish MUTTS would open in Frisco, part of the Dallas Metroplex. Then we could add it to this list of date ideas in Frisco, Texas.

Then, MUTTS is expanding to two new states. One, there is Arizona. The locations will be in Phoenix and Tucson.

Also, MUTTS is opening in Denver, Colorado.

However, back in Austin, if you’ll be there over the holidays, here are some of the best Austin Christmas bars.

What can you expect at MUTTS Canine Cantina

At MUTTS, you’ll find an outdoor restaurant and bar that has two dog parks adjacent to where humans can get food. A separate patio features concession-style food options specializing in the MUTTS Original Chicken Sandwich, burgers, milkshakes, and a “Doggie Menu” for the four-legged patrons.

These dog parks encompass about one acre. One dog park is for larger breeds, and the other dog park is for smaller breeds.

Here’s how the MUTTS website describes the off-leash dog park area:

“We have attendants on duty to pick up after your pet and make sure they have ample water–even in our giant wash tubs–so you can focus on relaxing and getting to know your fellow MUTTS Members in the community.”

They call these attendants “bark rangers.”

Other amenities include:

  • Front and back covered patios with misting fans and heaters
  • Outdoor LED TVs
  • Doggie splash pad park
  • Live music with giant LED screen
  • Private cabana rentals
  • Private event rental space
  • Self-serve dog wash
  • Wi-Fi & charging stations

And you can hold a dog birthday party there, too — something the millennial generation is known to do.

MUTTS memberships

In addition to grabbing a meal at MUTTS, you can also sign up for a membership. This membership gives you unlimited access to the dog park.

You can buy a one-day pass, a pass for one-week or membership for a whole year.

Will you visit MUTTS?

When USA Today put together its list of dog-friendly beaches, bars, restaurants and more, MUTTS was in the Top 10. Travel-planning site Orbitz also showed MUTTS some love in a blog post roundup of the best places to visit with your pooch. And lots of people on TripAdvisor love it, too.

I wonder if you could have your nuptials at MUTTS so you could have your dog in your wedding.
